Construction process: Wrapping system guarantees a consistent bend in all our masts.

Material: Full pre-preg carbon/fiber construction.

Constant joint bend: The shoulder and ferrule are fused together during the construction of the base, reducing weight and maintaining a continuous mast bend throughout the joint.

Carbon content: 100%

Keeping it simple, custom performance with no compromises.

All mast tops and bases are interchangeable, allowing riders to custom tune their sails and achieve their preferred bending curve percentages. For example, you might feel that a 5.3 sail is too soft and lacking in power on a 400 mast, and that it is also too stiff and powerful on a 430. With the Goya RDM Series you can get the best of both masts by using the stiffer bottom section from our 430 mast, to give stability in the power zone around the boom area, in combination with the top section from our 400 mast, to add lightness and a softer feel.

Why use RDM "skinny" masts?

High Durability/Low Weight: It is very simple. A reduced diameter paired with increased wall thickness allows us to make our masts resistant to breakage through bending or impact, while at the same time making them lighter than traditional, wide-diameter masts.

Bending Curves & Reflex: Because we make the mast wall thicker on the bottom section (the section that breaks most often), the bottom bend is naturally more rigid, giving our masts the extra stability always needed at the boom area and keeping the power zone free of unnecessary wrinkles. Our mast top sections maintain a more traditional diameter, keeping the wall thickness to a minimum. This translates into more reflex at the top part of your sail, letting you ride closer to the wind.

Speed: It is no secret that a thinner leading edge creates a faster profile. Goya RDM masts have the same small diameter that has been used to break the world speed sailing record. Our fin designs also utilize this "leading edge" principle, giving us excellent results below the water as well.

Handling: If you are grabbing the mast for any reason, during a freestyle or freeride move, or if you are just trying to get the sail out of the water or out of the impact zone as quickly as possible, you will find our thinner masts easier to handle. They improve control in the same way that reduced diameter booms took grip comfort to the next level.

Carbon Percentage: Our testing shows that 75% carbon content is the magic number. We engineer our mast tops to be as light as the 100% carbon masts on the market, without sacrificing strength where it is needed. We have found that at 80% carbon, mast durability starts to decline, and it simply doesn't make sense to give up riding in some conditions just to lose 100 grams of weight in the boom area.

Fun: Guaranteed. Just get yourself out there.
